Scotlynn Supports Lifesaving Mission with Lee Health Blood Center

At Scotlynn, we believe in giving back to the communities we call home. Last week, our Fort Myers team had the opportunity to do just that by partnering with Lee Health Blood Center for a mobile blood drive, and the results were nothing short of inspiring. 

A Community Lifeline 

Lee Health Blood Center plays a critical role in supporting the health and well-being of Southwest Florida. Blood donations collected through their drives stay local, directly benefiting patients at: 

• Cape Coral Hospital 
• Gulf Coast Medical Center 
• HealthPark Medical Center 
• Lee Memorial Hospital — home to the region’s only Level 2 Trauma Center 
• Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida 
• The Rehabilitation Hospital 
• Regional Cancer Center 
• Lee Health Coconut Point 

To maintain a stable blood supply, Lee Health needs 800 donors every week. Each donation can help save the lives of individuals battling cancer, undergoing surgery, or recovering from traumatic injuries. A single pint of blood can be separated into various components to help multiple patients in need. 

Hundreds of Lives Touched 

Thanks to the generosity of our Scotlynn team, 58 units of blood were collected during this visit. Each unit has the potential to save up to two lives, meaning over 100 lives in our community have been positively impacted, just from this visit alone. Each year, the Scotlynn Fort Myers team participates in an average of 4-5 blood drives to support the initiative. 

“We would like to express our gratitude to the donors that were able to give blood during our mobile blood drive at Scotlynn,” said Shannon Flory, Lead Donor Recruiter at Lee Health Blood Center. “This truly is a lifesaving mission and it is so important to our hospitals and the community to remember to donate blood… We appreciate everyone that was able to make it out and give ‘the gift of life.’”
